take a tour of a habitat home

Welcome to our first virtual Habitat Open House! This home (our 79th!) was built in beautiful Lake Delton, WI. The foundation, sidewalk and driveway were provided by Schlough's Classic Concrete. Roof trusses courtesy of Contractor's Supply of Baraboo. Siding and trim by ABC Supply of Baraboo. Roof donated by Frey Construction.

Our kitchen features cabinets and countertop from Classic Cabinetry. Upper cabinet doors were installed after this photo was taken.

Whirlpool generously donated the appliances for our Habitat home. Every year they donate appliances for every Habitat home in the USA!

The living room. Industrial grade flooring was installed throughout the home by McGann Furniture (the protective plastic is still present in these photos).

The bathroom was designed to allow an accessible 5-foot turning radius as well as open surfaces for easier access.

Top Tier Plumbing worked with the homeowner to provide an accessible and easy-to-use shower area.

Kohler generously donated all other plumbing fixtures for the home.

The increased space in the master bedroom includes raised outlets and extra space for accessibility. Room darkening shades donated by Levolor.

A spare bedroom provides a place for guests to stay (though we suspect Jack the Terrier will claim this room as his!).

A walk-in closet in the spare bedroom offers additional storage space.

Focus on Energy generously donated a smart Google Nest thermostat to keep the home comfortable and the ease of adjusting the temperature remotely using a smartphone. Lenny's Heating & Cooling installed the HVAC in the home.

Jeske Electric installed the electric panel and washer/dryer hookup on the first floor for easier access. Schneider Electric/Square D donated product.

Basement space is left unfinished as a future option for homeowners to customize to their needs.

An egress window in the basement (allowing an emergency exit) is installed to offer a future bedroom option to Habitat homeowners.

First Supply donated a ComfortMaker furnace to keep the home toasty warm and energy efficient during Wisconsin winters.

We'll be back this spring with Ray Zobel & Sons Excavating to grade and seed the lawn. The Master Gardeners Association of Sauk and Columbia Counties have secured a donation of grass seed from Jung Seed Co. of Randolph and are eager to help get the yard ready for summer!

We're so grateful to an amazing group of people who helped us build!

meet the people who build

Trever and his buddy Jake are the future homeowners. They were accepted into the program in May 2019 after meeting three criteria: need for affordable housing, willingness to partner through sweat equity, and ability to pay a mortgage based on income. Trever works at the Boys & Girls Club, and came to us after his father sadly passed away and the family home was being sold through probate. It was an honor to partner with Trever and help him build a home custom-designed to meet his needs!
